  1. Sister Stanton says:

Weaker graphics ? Dude it is practically impossible to spot the difference between X1 and ps4 in terms of graphics. That's an out dated argument. Unless you have them side by side, then U can see that ps4 has more contrast.
    It's a matter of taste

  2. Chelsie Herzog says:

I have a PS3 and Xbox 360 which are both great. I now also have a Xbox One. I can honestly say it is awful! I am so disappointed. I have no games that I have kept for the Kinect – Kinect Sports Rivals was a major disappointment. The BlueRay DVD player is not user friendly at all. The Kinect voice controls don't work. Sky through Xbox is awful. I have bought Titanfall, FIFA14, Forza, all the games you would expect to be good on Xbox One, and they are. All I would say is they don't look any different from the best games on Xbox 360 and PS3. I feel ripped off that I bought when launched and still 11 months later it still has a long way to go. Very disappointing!!! I feel cheated.

  3. Prof. Allison Davis says:

Don't have to go to the home screen, games and apps or whatever for setting.

  4. Casandra Howe says:

yeah as great as Kinect is for navigating round you can do it fine with the controller just a little slower than with kinect

  5. Kale Aufderhar says:

Shame on you xbox one. Absolute negligence on you part during Christmas. You obviously know many would purchase your console for the holidays yet you could not keep your server going during a peek time! Not only do I have a son whom is waiting in suspense to play but then you have me, who is highly aggravated spending hours I will never get back in my life. Not only does the "all in one console" not change channels for the cable, but I can't even go onto the internet nor let my son play a simple game. Looks like I'm going to the "SIMPLE ALL IN ONE VIDEO GAME CONSOLE PS4" Now I have to spend more of my life disconnecting the console, packaging it up, and returning it all back to the store. I had seemed to forget why I had went to the ps4 and stepped away from the xbox in the first place. Again, SHAME ON YOU XBOX! Can't even seem to get your servers going in the right direction either. Maybe you should hire a regular "Joe Schmoe" guy to tell you guys how horrible of job you guys are doing and take some advice from a hard working family so you don't waste some of our time!

  6. Delpha Kuhic V says:

erm you do know that both xbox and playstation were both down at Christmas from a doss attack right? and that xbox got xbox live back up a lot faster than sony got psn back up

  7. Andy Stark says:

I am not sure why you wouldn't connect your TV, surround sound and sat/cable box.
Took me all of 10 mins to get the TV to turn on, Sky TV to turn on and ofc my surround sound system.
It then took me 1 minute to install smart glass to android and get rid of 3 remote controls.
My wife LOVES the Kinect for ease of use. I like smart glass…
Smart glass allows full use of epg rather than using the xbox controller and the sky tv one. BRILLIANT.

  8. Grace Wilkinson says:

Yes I agree with what you wrote. Also the reviewer vastly overestimated the Xbone's app/game switching time (RAM operations basically). It takes less than 5 seconds to go between apps (provided they are already loaded and "on") and startup time from standby is probably less than 30 sec.

PS4 has superior resolution (not noticeable on anything smaller than a giant roll down projector screen that I have), better fps stability and RAM and VRAM, but all those are miniscule advantages. For instance, the extra amount of memory is reserved for the PS4 OS and features that may never be fully utilized (PS engines have always been hard to develop for and thus the games themselves also need to instruct the hardware to allocate memory as needed). Granted the PS4 memory type is inherently superior to Xbox One's DDR3. And that's just it as far as specs go – everything else doesn't squeeze that much more juice and are just superficial numbers. We will only see the extra juice out of PS4 years down the road. You all claim to see better performance in third party games — I don't see it. Keep in mind I've also been playing on a tricked out PC for all my life: nothing that even the PS4 can do can touch my rig.

In truth a good compatible TV (mine is not) and well programmed software like Halo:MCC will allow the Xbone to upscale 908p and 720p to 1080i and 1080p far better than XB360 and other non-native 1080p devices ever did. (Halo MCC is natively 1080p, period, apparently, and needs only the TV to be so). Even my buggy HDTV, which can't recognize 1080p input sources well with various HDMI splitting and so forth – and now it refuses to do so at all – plays 720p Xbone games more crisper than it did with 1080p upscaled XB360 (yes Im accounting for better texture mapping and polygon counts on next gen software).

The real comparison between the two consoles isn't the hardware specs, or even the software features, but game exclusitivity. Not talking about first and second party exclusive games, but third party exclusive content and DLC practices. So many people claimed XB360 "won" in this aspect last generation, but it isn't true. The PS4 launched with better exclusive prowess and endowment and potential because of the practices out into place with PS3. That community had far more exclusive games in both Japan and North America, and exclusive content for major releases (especially R* and Ubisoft games) and even stole some of Xbox 360's exclusives. Today, PS4 has and will have much more exclusive games than the One, and more to the point, will have timed exclusive or permanently exclusive DLC or day one content for more AAA releases (Destiny being the first major one). Say what you want about PS3 getting backhanded with Skyrim, but third party developers and publishers are taking a shit on Xbone. We are short-sticked.

  9. Rocio Donnelly says:

I have had the XBOX One now for about 3 weeks, We are an active household into the gym and fitness and have found the Kinect to be excellent, The recent EA sale has allowed us to expand our gaming library with 3 great games, Titanfall, Need for speed rivals, and Battlefield 4 Premium all together for about £45. I believe their is room for both consoles each will stand out more for their exclusive titles in the months too come. Its a shame that microsoft had to cut out the kinect in order to compete with the PS4 because it adds so much more to the experience.

Ill be buying a projector soon which will produce an 180" screen on my wall, Coupled with a 7.1 surround system it will greatly increase the sense of immersion.

In summery Im pleased with my purchase, but i will buy the PS4 in time why limit yourself.

  10. Kathryne Fahey says:

I actually can't believe this is an updated review as some of the things in the review are incorrect. First off the xbox one does take screenshots, just double tap on the xbox button and select the option there – simple. The other thing is accessing the settings, it's not rocket science, when on the Xbox one menu screen just press the hamburger menu button and access settings from the submenu – again super simple!! For me kinect works more than 70% of the time although in noisey situations it can struggle. Also, have a look at fallout 4 xbox one vs ps4 vs pc comparisons, there is little in it from the Xbox one and ps4 point of view.

  11. Mr. Merritt Quitzon says:

Thanks for the article James. Just want to inform all folks who live outside US that Xbox One is a great media Player. If you want to access Netflix and other streaming stations on your Xbox One you can use UnoTelly as I do to get around the geo block.

  12. Prof. Gust Marks says:

Being a die-hard Xbox person I made the switch to ps4 as I wanted to be on other side of fence. Most exclusives that Xbox has or will have will be ported to pc unlike ps games which are true exclusives. I am still considering a Xbox one, almost pulled the trigger on some of the black friday deals. What puts me off is what the game developers of Activision said about Xbox one when I play tested a game of theirs. They called it a nightmare to program and a pos, which made my decision on what system to buy. Hope I made the right choice.

  13. Ms. Luz Mayert I says:

In my opinion, the only reason the PS4 was superior in Resolution was because it has the extra power like everyone knows, but again, it's miniscule that the new games which will release from next year or the end of this year won't barely have any difference at all.

What you say about the better FPS stability I can't trust at all. Not sure which game it is but it launcher recently and it had fps issues. That's the developers cause of FPS stability, not the console, although more RAM and GPU helps to keep it up.

I'm not sure about the current upscaler on the XB1. I can barely tell the difference between the 720p and the 1080p on the consoles compared to the last. These consoles do some magical stuff, the way they upscale and downscale the whole game in less than 2s when you quick tap back to the Home screens (at least on XB1). Not sure how they crack that.

Also, I'm not sure what your opinion is about the Cloud which has already started improving the games on the Xbox One in comparison to the PS4. Every game released on XB1 get's servers for free from MS*.*I think only if it's an exclusive game. Maybe I'm wrong. Not too sure.

Anyway, back to the cloud. Do you think it will make a huge difference on the games that are coming in 2015+?
The way I think of it is pretty simple. The cloud offers something for developers that no other companies other than MS offers. That's mass cloud computation. Now if I were a developer, I would look at each manufacturer and pick which one is more supportive. Putting those 2 things together, I would pick MS, for the obvious reason of; Cloud computation.

There is literally endless computation when you're using this for a game if I'm honest. Anything small enough to be sent over a network, can be saved and used via cloud. So, AI, Lighting, Physics and the matchmaking infrastructure and the rest of it can all be offloaded to the cloud. Pretty much everything, except large files like Textures and the rendering (So far). It basically gives the Xbox, technically more power. I'm sure you already know this but it's worth mentioning. As the games get more "Hungry", the cloud does more to take the strain off the console. There is just so much the cloud is capable of doing. It scares me to think what the games for PS4 is going to be like at that time. Also, the new API's will play a larger role too, with them being mroe effective over these 7 years we have. With DX12 kicking it off. Let's just hope OpenGL/CL keeps up. It only updates every two years or so, so I'm not sure how they will manage to keep up with DirectX which now seems to be updating every year.

  14. Mr. Jonatan Simonis says:

The guy who wrote it is a stupid Sony fan boy .

  15. Flo Wiza DVM says:

you claim to have a forza game to try and say that don't look any different from 360 and ps 3 is ridiculous and bull

  16. Trace Harber says:

I've played both and it really comes down to personal preference.

Those who say the XB1 is far less powerful because they're not looking at the whole picture. The PS4 is bottle-necked by it's bandwidth, so what you see when you look at the GPU, isn't there. Infact games releasing now, don't look any better than the Xbox One version like they did at launch. It's pretty much neck and neck apart from the XB1 has a slight Color advantage, that the eagle eyed would notice.

I've used both and in my opinion, the Xbox One is just far more intuitive. The way it works is just better. It feels faster on the OS (switching between Apps and games). The updates it receives are phenomenal.

Tbh, when I watched E3, I knew the XB1 would eventually surpass the PS4 anyway. It's MS, and they eventually change the game until it's in their favor. I think this year, it has already happened. I pre-ordered the XB1 before it released and I have a PS4 collecting dust.

Until you have played both, you don't realize the advantage that the XB1 has. It's just better as a whole console. I can bet my console on that. It will only improve.

  17. Dr. Elody Runolfsson says:

I really don't understand how you can say the UI is reliant on having Kinect – I have no trouble finding my way around without Kinect.

Another interesting feature, that I've only recently found out myself, is that the Xbox One can be controlled via an IR remote (doesn't require Kinect). Microsoft have their own media remote but I have mine working with a Logitech Harmony universal.

  18. Suzanne Bins says:

Inferior graphics and poor ui? Has this is person used it before?

  19. Genesis Ondricka says:

    discover real cost at http://amzn.to/UOIj8J

  20. Mackenzie Rippin says:

Most of the people expect to much of the consoles ….seems like they expect it to walk to the car and buckle up when buying it,non the less its still a gaming console..why do people seem to care about power and much better graphics, better graphics means more space and shorter story line.why pay $100 for a game with marvelous graphics butt the story line only last 7 hours,to complete games 100% is useless ,hidden items and all the other side jobs is boring…xbox one's graphics is nice just as it is…longer story lines will be much better,it keeps you interested on what's comming next…new remotes love it,much better grip and softer buttons.problem in my opion is all the updates..why upgrade feature if you have to download app for it to work..bluray,music cd etc 360 is better in that erea …new consoles practically runs on the web. Here in south africa connection is awful in this erea. You struggle longer to get everything working for multiplayer.xbox 360 games not compatable so all your progress on xbox live for the 360 games are lost or you have to buy it again for xbox one…to expensive it costs double the price, why?there is no value for money!seems like the competition between sony and xbox is slowly busy influencing the potential to better future gaming and causing it to lack performance and could be the reason most first atempt consoles give problems…

  21. Briana Muller III says:

You are shure that you gave an neutral review? I think you where more a PS fan already.

  22. Mariana Lehner says:

Xbox one is the worst console ever created in the entire universe u suck xbox one xbox 360 is the best u shouldnt keep all the good games on xbox one u should still bring them out on xbox 360 like dead rising 3 and when saints row 5 comes out dont keep it on crappy xbox one.

  23. Kade Lindgren DDS says:

its better to have a steady framerate than a higher resolution. because of the locking at 1080p the ps 4 suffers frame rate drops where as xbox one games run at a steady frame rate. on xbox they only make a game 1080p if the framerate is not going to suffer for it and that is a big advantage over the ps 4 the xbox one has.

  24. Miss Vincenza Schumm III says:

The best thing going for the Xbox One is that Don Mattrick is no longer at MS, and Spencer has taken over. After the brand almost being ruined, Spencer has done much to fix the problems his predecessor caused. Unfortunately, thanks to Mr Mattrick's big focus on Sports, TV, and Media, the Xbox One cannot really compare to the game performance in the PS4. Now that the Xbox One comes with out Kinect, your still getting a much less powerful console for the same price as PS4. As a gamer, get a Xbox One for the first party exclusives like Halo, but the PS4 is the better bet for third party games. Get an Xbox One if your a media fan and care about that more than gaming. The Xbox One has some decent games, but the best games are typically third party, and the PS4 is the better bet there.

  25. Antonia Schroeder says:

The negatives aren't really negatives at all. Batteries are far better than a built in Battery because you can change them when you want. Still, the XB1 controller lasts longer than the PS4 on one charge.
I agree with the Voice commands, they're sometimes hit and miss but still usable.

The consoles doesn't have inferior graphics at all. If the reviewer looked further into the specs, they would see that the console has a huge Bandwidth advantage over the PS4. PS4 will only lead in game quality this year as the Xbox One will receive Cloud computing and DX12 API set to fill in the gaps. Should be very useful for 8-cores.

Completely false again, the console excels in Media performance, DLNA, Backgrounds and streaming Music/Films etc is super-easy with the console. Not tested this on the PS4 yet.

Again, I don't see this as a disadvantage. People always complain how an external brick is just a waste of space but it's not. You never move the power brick anyway and it's tiny compared to the X360 power brick. It's far better for cooling the consoles and is replaceable unlike the PS4's.
