How come all the broke nerds have to come up with a long, drawn-out excuse for why they can't afford something?? In this case, a PS4.. but I'm willing to wager you have an equally exhausting story as to why you don't use an iPhone either… smh

    ps4 $273 at costco

    Lol.

    I have a Wii U and love it. I don't have a PS3 or a Xbox 360. Nor did I have a PS2 or an original Xbox.

I wanted one of the next generation consoles, Wii U doesn't have sports games, or many of the popular games…. so I read up about it, and decided on a PS4.

I purchased that PS4 five months ago. I had it for a week and then returned it. I didn't like it. I couldn't game quietly at night as the fan was too noisy – it required headphones. The controllers battery life was horrible, constantly recharging it. And I didn't like the games out, not much that I like.

So, I sort of gave up on the whole next-gen thing, thinking about maybe just keeping my Wii U. Maybe I should get a PS3 or Xbox 360? They have lots more games….

Well, I researched more and noticed that the Xbox one now has backwards compatibility – I'll be able to play Xbox 360 games, all 'new' games as far as I'm concerned. The game catalog is MUCH larger now. Then I noticed all the free games from EA Access (all the sports games – NHL 15, Madden 15, Fifa 15, racing games). I know all last year, but basically free with a $30/year membership. PS4 doesn't offer it.

So, my mind changed. I bought an Xbox with Tomb Raider last week, and OMG – I love this system. So much better than the PS4 – not because of graphics or anything – because of all the games, how quiet it is, and I like the controllers better, and the interface.

I'm not a Microsoft fanboy at all – I actually did NOT want to buy it because it's Microsoft – I own an Apple laptop, and left Microsoft Windows years ago. But, this is my first Microsoft product in a LONG time that I really like.

I might still get a PS4 later in it's console life – maybe when Uncharted 4 comes out? Most likely in late 2016 if more games come out for it. Or maybe get a used PS3 for $100 to play those games?

Ignorance, ignorance, ignorance. You cannot get DX12 on a DX11 graphics card.

Enjoy the lower frame rate and resolution? I'd only by an xbone
    for halo nothing else.

  7. Helene D'Amore says:

    >all you PC naggers will be eating your own words in the next 2 years.

You ready to spend at least another consoles worth of cash on the PS4.5/PS4K to be able to do anything you just listed?

Besides, the OR is crap. The last thing I want with my VR experience is a company known for Ads and tracking its customers information.

  8. Christine Connelly says:

Personally, overall I think the two balance each other out. They have their differences, advantages and disadvantages, and it comes down to what is more important to the individual person. For some Halo is the deal breaker. For others it depends on what console most of their friends are using online. And others whatever display looks nicest at their local Best Buy 😛

One disadvantage both have – kid friendly titles. Yes I know both are primarily geared towards older gamers and most gamers are older. And there are some titles out there if you look. But there are a lot of kids who want either of these consoles and most mothers do not want to buy their kid a "Gears of War" XBOX One bundle or a "Call of Duty" PS4 bundle.

One other thing I have noticed. Few people mention the PS4 headset made by Sony. Yes, I know you can get anything from Astros to Turtle Beach. But both Sony and Microsoft have their own headsets and the PS4 one definitely wins this one. I am amazed at how often their $100 headset is rated above headsets two and three times it's cost. The Sony Gold Playstation headset is wireless and virtual surround sound. Full price it is $100 but often on sale. It can be found as low as $50-$60. Which is an amazing deal especially given they are not poor quality headset at all and are constantly rated among the top headsets for Playstation.

All in all though I think people need to chill. People tend to get so worked up about this. They are both good consoles. I will admit myself a slight Sony bias mostly because of my experiences with other Microsoft products [I wouldn't recommend the Surface Pro 3 to my worst enemy] and because working with Microsoft support is a nightmarish Hell.

Bet you feel like a dumbass now…

  10. Soledad Mayer says:

This will be the first time I own all the systems in a generation AND the first time I've owned an xbox. Backwards compatibility and All the price drops made it too good.

  11. Elizabeth Borer says:

LOL 12 year old detected. You're only calling them ugly because you can't handle the fact that you are 😉

  12. Mallory Ankunding says:

This article is guilty of an alarming number of biased statments. Here are some examples:

"PS4 lacks this passthrough technology, opting to stick with gaming as its top priority."

😀 Are you serious? Since when is a lack of a feature a "benefit"? A feature is a feature. PS4 does not have this feature, and the article uses propaganda to make up for it.

I think we ALL know that Xbox One has made gaming its top priority. Playstation has Playstation TV. What a joke.

"Tucked inside is a 30-day subscription to PlayStation Plus and a wired mono earbud, contrasting with the just-a-cheap Xbox One headset."

Really? A 'wired mono earbud' is preferable to Xbox's "cheap" headset? Why no "cheap" adjective for the wired mono earbud? Is it expensive?

Speaking of the fact that Kinect was originally bundled, we get "That's a nice perk for Xbox loyalists, though not worth the premium they paid."

Oh, okay. This leads to the article's next frequently reiterated point:

    "Kinect is a failure"

Why is the Kinect such a failure? We are told "Xbox One Kinect is certainly powerful, it just needs more games. Right now, there are few reasons to keep the 1080p camera plugged in."

Yet, about PS4's controller we get "The PS4 controller's front touchpad and mono speaker are a unique way to interact with games, and developers are starting to find ways to adopt this technology into their controls schemes."

So, on PS4, developers are "starting to find ways to adopt this technology", but on Xbox One, even though there are some games that use Kinect, "it just needs more games."

Notice the article completely fails to mention what many fans state that they like about Kinect, which includes its voice control and auto-recognition features. I rather like Skype with it since we have international ties.

Listed under the 'Against' list is "Controller still uses batteries"

So having to play plugged in is preferable to just swapping out batteries and going wireless? No thanks. Wireless all the way for me.

I can't stand bias in what is supposed to be objective reporting.

  17. Nestor Towne says:

Wait, you have Windows Vista? NOOOOOB

  18. Casimir Abbott V says:

I just keep the old system, so it makes no difference to me whither or not it's backwards compatible. Games perform better on the console they were originally intended for anyways and have less bugs and issues.

Ideally, every system would be backward compatible, but it shouldn't come at the cost of the new system's performance. Not only can it be expensive, but it can also potentially lead to heating problems, etc. There are drawbacks to the implementation of backward compatibility. That's all I'm trying to say.

As technology advances, it will become more and more difficult to add the hardware/software necessary to have BC. In order to fully emulate older generation games, you would most likely have to redesign significant chunks of code to make games run on old architecture. Or you'd have to integrate tech that makes it more expensive. That’s not necessarily the best way to spend resources and development time. So I say focus on the new games.

As far as having a console, for me, they have more exclusive games that I want than PC does. Eventually, I would like to build my own gaming PC, but I'll still use consoles, too.

There's really no need to be so childish and denigrate those who actually have mental disabilities by using it a a slur. I suggest you try to make a point without unnecessary insults. That attitude is not appealing on anyone. Have a good day.

  19. Aimee Maggio says:

I came here to try to decide which is better so I have no horse in the which is better race. That being said popularity is not a gauge of something being any good. That would imply that boy bands and pop musicians are superior musical talents to the likes of classical composers like Mozart.

  20. Prof. Helena Erdman DVM says:

That's was utterly a dumb statement. This is why PC players laugh at console gamers dumb ideology like that. Why would you want a new system that can't also play the older system games? How is not having that option revolutionary? Its actually the opposite. Makes no damn sense this statement. Are you mentally disabled or something?

  21. Marietta Wehner says:

No dude. You're a nerd if you care that much to be so preemptively defensive.

  22. Kelley Reichert says:

WOW! You mean to tell me that your grammar is terrible in 5 different languages? I think I found the special snowflake. I'd rather be proficient in one language than be mediocre in 4 and decent in 1. And don't act like you know what languages I can and can't speak you pretentious wanker.

  23. Prof. Lucy Dickinson says:

There is two things you did not mention in your video.

Firstly regarding the controller. This adds to the PS4 edge in this regard. The PS4 cones with the rechargeable battery and the cable in the console bundle. For the XB1 you need to pay an additional $25 to buy a "Play and Charge" kit. Plus individual XB1 controllers also do not come with rechargeable battery or cable – you would need to buy the more expensive bundle controller. The PS4 controller default has the rechargeable battery. So not only is the PS4 controller generally cheaper it comes with more capability.

The cameras. I think this might tip it in the PS4 favor since you had judged them even? The PS4 camera is A LOT cheaper. On SALE the Kinect goes for $100. Whereas full price the PS4 camera is cheaper than that, plus on sale I have seen the PS4 camera for as low as $30. Plus because it was initially optional, unlike those of us who bought the XB1 early on, PS4 owners did not fork over an extra $100 to sit in front of their TV [I got my XB1 Jan. 2014]

I have both. I recently got the PS4 after finally realizing sharing an Xbox one with three brothers is impossible but it just seemed silly to get a second XBOX One.

  24. Milford Cremin II says:

I own both. Why is that so hard to believe?

  25. Justyn Koss Jr. says:

The reason PCs can search faster is because it's a computer. Remember those things that came out back in 1970 meant to search stuff over this thing called the internet? If not, they're called computers. A PC is a super powered computer. The PS4 doesn't prioritize internet surfing because its a GAMING SYSTEM. You have a better gaming experience and on a bigger screen. All you PC gamers can stick to whatever games you play, and I'll happily play Uncharted 4 in my Oculus Rift VR headset.
