While I really want to upgrade my PC. It's for no other reason than vanity, and I'm going to force myself to wait until the gen2 VR headsets eventually hit the market.

My current PC is (just barely) capable of running VR, so I don't mind waiting a little while longer. With any luck it'll give the AMD Zen architecture time to mature and (hopefully) challenge intel.

Part of me really wants to see how big a different HBM makes when it's put onto a purpose built card, rather than jerry-rigged onto an existing architecture. Can't help but feel it'll be a boon for VR if AMD utilize it correctly.

There's always cheaper GPU's on both sides. We're talking about gpu flag-ships, you pay what you get. They are priced reasonably in my opinion.

  3. Taryn Schaden says:

I do hope that they will be priced reasonably, those prices of GPU are long past the DAMN level and they're now reaching the HOLY SHIT level

I finally gave in… couldn't wait any longer. My old GPU died in January and I found a ridiculous deal on a 50" 4k screen. So I've got a GTX960 on the way strictly for productivity. I'll eventually upgrade to a new-gen gaming card at some point (likely, after they are finally released) but I was just tired of the waiting.

  5. Rigoberto Smitham says:

True that, but it does play everything at 1080p, ultra level, with high FPS. It's still very much an high-end GPU.

Yes, there are cheaper options but even the GTX970 has a crazy price-tag for me. (take the base price add some taxes and it's getting really expensive)
