I love my Vita, first handheld since GB color.

Just thought i'd help out, there is a small mod you can do to get a PSvita to charge from any USB port if you are not around a wallsocket and have a fully charged laptop or something.

Test it on something else first.

A bit late but I have something to add: although Vita games may have only 4-5 hours of life, if you play PSP games on the Vita I've had it go close to 10 or 12 hours. I don't know if that's actually better than just bringing a PSP if you have it, but the system can be used on a long trip if you make that trade off.

have my Vita since the weekend, i bought secondhand and saved about 1/3rd on the retail price of what I got. Its only 2 weeks old with receipt. Came with uncharted, wipeout a 4gb memory card and extra cases… so far i've only played Wipeout and its great. The graphics and gameplay are top notch. The vibe i'm getting from the Vita is that its main focus is a gaming machine. Yes it can do music and video and pictures and has a browser, but Sony quite rightly seem to be putting the focus on the gaming aspect. Its got a great control setup – not phone or tablet can compete with that… and for gaming on the commute to work etc, I thik it would be hard to beat it. Yes the games are expensive, as are the memory cards but if you are sensible and cherry pick the secondhand market you can do quite well!. Im looking forward to a good fighting game on it. Maybe Mortal Kombat as thats out on my birthday

The price for the memory cards & games are putting me off. Buy 1 16Gb card and a three games and you are in iPad/tablet territory. The Vita total cost of ownership could be expensive. I will wait & see if it gets much developer support & what the price of games on PSN are. I can't help thinking it will look outdated compared to tablets & phones in 18 months time.

  5. Prof. Manuela Wolff DVM says:

Amazon do a pa vita offical portable battery charger now it charges the vita over 2 times so u get at least 10 hours extra play time it's £38 p p. free but the memory card r a rip off no way round it except buy used one

  6. Kiera Dickens says:

I think the Vita looks like a fantastic piece of gaming hardware but I won't be getting it due to the ridiculous pricing on the games and memory cards, this is something they needed to get right to compete with other portable devices (iPhones, Ipods SG2 etc) but they clearly are trying make their money by over pricing these and selling the actual unit at a reasonable price. It would work far better the other way round IMHO. When you can get Infinity Blade 2 for £2.99 on the Ipad I don't care how good Uncharted is if it's £30-40 I begrudge paying these prices for my PS3 & Xbox 360, not many people can afford or want to pay this again for game that is near identical to something they already have. Sony sort your pricing out and this thing will be massive otherwise you've got another portable flop on your hands!!

  7. Arch Kuvalis DVM says:

Defo getting one. Perhaps not at launch, but pretty soon…

  8. Prof. Olen Ullrich DVM says:

RE PS3's web browser: There is an update live now that makes it really quite good. It works!

And i want vita now please, but i have to wait til march for my bonus from work, boooo.

  9. Pierre Kutch says:

I modded my vita already with some custom power/volume buttons and lit them up, I have done a trigger mod also guides can be found here

  10. Dr. Cydney Steuber says:

Well, the Vita section on PSN is now live in the UK and guess what …. the game prices are crazy. £40 for Uncharted, £30 for Lumines.

Have Sony really lost the plot that badly?

If a Sony exec is reading this, I have a simple message to you:

Focus on the customer, don't focus on Sony!

Keep the customer happy & the profits will roll in.

  11. Mandy Stiedemann says:

sooo guys ive got to do a review on this PS Vita and i have no idea what it is i dont suppose anyone can help me out?

  12. Georgianna McKenzie IV says:

the vitas browser is now better than the iphone 5s browser and faster than the ipad 4s browser but ur review still criticizes it rewrite it please

  13. Ms. Brielle Bogan says:

Got mine today and have to say it's by far the most impressive, well-rounded handheld console I've ever used. It doesn't feel like a pared back experience, rather it really is just as 'full-fat' as the big boys. I like my 3DS but I absolutely adore the Vita.

  14. Geo Wisoky says:

I've had the Vita since launch. I also had the original PSP and have a PS3. The Vita is closer to the PS3 in terms of power and graphics. I'm no fanboy either. I also own a 360, Wii and DS. The Vita is the greatest portable gaming system ever conceived. I even had the original color handheld….the Turbo Grafix 16 – Turbo Express.

  15. Aylin Doyle says:

    @fukhead

I think you are the joke. You need to unplug from the Internet, as clearly you are too stupid to know the difference between fact and FUD.

Everything you mention there is pure FUD.

  16. Lois Aufderhar says:

bought one from asia and this is the best portable game machine ever…drake is amazing on it and it really does do multimedia really well. games are very engaging and fun, which is what the whole point is. browser isn't the best, but it does its job. the onscreen keyboard is very good. i need more games on this. can't stop playing it…

  17. Mr. Miguel Pagac says:

Wow!! it has also a nice review on http://startuptunes.com/2012/0

  18. Lia Heaney says:

@dunboy – Did you really just compare Infinity Blade 2 to Uncharted…? Sounds to me as if you don't need a dedicated gaming system to get your fix, which is fine but for most gamers they really need deeper and more rewarding games. Infinity Blade 2 is a good iOS game but it's a minority. There are barely more than a handful of iPad games which really push the system or dare to give a console gaming experience. Vita on the other hand has a fantastic launch with the varied prices (£5-35 if you shop around, including the excellent PSN games).

  19. Ms. Shaylee Lindgren says:

Hi amazon do an offical portable battery charger now will give u 10 extra hours game play its £38 p p free but memory card is rip off just get used one its bit cheaper i got my vita in perfect con for £119 99 + used games r miles cheaper But vita is brilliant it just a super super charged p s p it's the best

  20. Elouise Keebler says:

  23. Elsie Mayert II says:

Just thought I should point out, the two sellers you have listed, when I clicked on the my memory link it showed that they were selling the Vita for £249, but thats for the wifi only model (£20 more than the RRP) and £299 for the wifi&3g. I got all excited when I 1st seen it here as I assumed that the £250 price tag was for the 3g model :(

  24. Miss Kaitlin Schulist says:

It doesn’t seem like truth, such a matter is better checked with hahaped

  25. Mattie Mraz says:

    Fed up with Sony TBH.

After their PSN network getting hacked & not letting us know for 5 days (when we coulda been resetting our passwords) & the way they attacked Geo-hot & their rip-off Wii controller that no games use (with a £35 plastic gun holder)

Plus the new contract we had to sign to say we wouldn't sue them if they lost our personal info again…..

Not to mention the Rootkits SonyBMG likes to install

& the fact that they thought that 256MB RAM would be enough for the PS3 to last as long as it has…

The company is a joke with its head stuck up its ***
