Doubt Sony will do anything. When the Nintendo Switch takes off Sony will probably remember what happened when they tried to ride on Wii’s popularity with motion controls when they came out with PS Move and it was way past the hype train then. Sony would have to release a handheld this year for it to have any hope. If they just started developing now it’s way too late to bother.

Does Sony really need to answer to everything? I got the PSVR and it’s finally coming out with a good amount of games, but they need to be serious about their stuff. Have a solid console, the Playstation line, solid sidekick PSVR, then once you have that down pat, go towards the portable. I don’t think the switch will be huge anyways, you’re telling me with 32GB of storage you’re going to play anything worth while? Furthermore, will you want to bring it with you?? I don’t think so. I wouldn’t bring my PS4 with me if I could.

In fact, no, Switch is going to let down a lot of people, it’s just a gimmick, when people realize what they have in their hands many of the will regret the decission to preorder it. It’s just an oversized and overpriced tablet, nothing else, you can buy nVidia’s Shield for 200$, it has more autonomy, more power and more resolution using the same chipset, and it has Android, which has a ton more of games than the Switch is going to have. Of course it doesn’t has any of the Nintendo exclusives, but if they follow the same path as the Wii U, then these will be a very reduced number. So, a console which doesn’t works well as portable (low autonomy, low resolution) and fails as a desktop console (less than half the power of a PS4 vanilla, more expensive) is going to fail at the end, and we all know if Nintendo doesn’t has enough sales will not even bother to create a good catalog to try to get new customers, they will just throw away the console and sell a new one like they did with Wii U.

There is expandable storage option with MicroSD cards. PS Vita doesn’t even have internal storage to be used for games when it first came out, granted that didn’t help it’s case. I do somehow wish for a larger internal storage but it’s using the same storage as our mobile phones and most phones are in the 16GB or 32GB range currently.

not to mention downloading games is an option or that games don’t need to install themselves onto the system (which is why PS4 and Xbox One need large hard drives)

  3. Mo' Shizzle says:

That looks more like a Phablet phone with controllers as an after thought. I don’t actually mind it. It only means a big massive battery for the phone bit 😀

  4. Bigbad Bahamut says:

Oh no… This kinda looks horrid. Dont think this is happening.

    1. Skywax9016 says:

Well, Sony rarely debut anything that doesn’t look good, so this is probably just a prototype.
